The Skin Barrier Africa Program is a pharmacist-led initiative by Speckles Beauty dedicated to improving skin barrier health and promoting safe, evidence-based skincare practices among women across Africa.
Skin health is a critical yet often overlooked part of overall wellbeing. Across Africa, many women use cosmetic products that compromise the skin barrier, leading to dryness, sensitivity, breakouts and long-term skin damage.
Studies show that a significant percentage of women in Nigeria and across Africa use skin-lightening products, many of which contain harmful ingredients that weaken the skin’s natural protective barrier.
This highlights the urgent need for safe, science-based skincare solutions and education.
